Wrap-up ISE2025: The future of Unified Communication in rapid acceleration

13-02-2025 15:10

ISE 2025 in Barcelona has come to an end, and what an event it was! For four days, the world of AV and Unified Communication was all about innovation, collaboration, and the latest technological developments.

Together with our Business Development Manager Darren Looijen, we have identified the key trends. In our highlight video, he takes you through the most notable developments we observed at various vendors. Here’s an overview of the biggest trends and insights from ISE 2025.

AI as the driving force behind innovation

If there was one technology that stood out during ISE 2025, it was Artificial Intelligence (AI). From advanced noise suppression in video meetings to automatic speaker tracking and real-time translations, AI is increasingly being integrated into AV solutions to optimize collaboration within organizations. AI-powered tools help teams communicate more efficiently and make meetings more productive, regardless of participants’ locations.

Microsoft and Cisco: A new partnership for hybrid working

One of the major announcements at ISE was the renewed partnership between Microsoft and Cisco. The integration of Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex makes it easier than ever to seamlessly switch between the two platforms. This means more flexibility for organizations supporting hybrid work and using multiple UC platforms. Thanks to this collaboration, meeting rooms are becoming smarter and more compatible, providing users with an optimal experience without being tied to a single platform.

The next generation of meeting boards and video bars

The latest meeting boards and video bars showcased at ISE 2025 demonstrated how hardware and software are becoming increasingly integrated. These devices are now even smarter, featuring built-in AI functionalities, improved microphones, and cameras with automatic framing. The latest generation of meeting boards offers an intuitive user experience, where notes are instantly saved and shared with participants, making meetings more interactive than ever.

Smart Pro AV: Seamless integration of audiovisual systems

Another notable trend at the event was the rise of Smart Pro AV. This technology ensures that all AV systems within an organization can communicate seamlessly with each other. From meeting rooms to auditoriums and huddle rooms, Smart Pro AV allows organizations to manage and optimize their AV infrastructure more efficiently, contributing to smoother and more integrated collaboration.

360-Degree cameras: Equal visibility for everyone

Hybrid meetings are becoming increasingly inclusive thanks to 360-degree cameras. This technology ensures that all participants are equally visible, regardless of their location. The AI in these cameras automatically recognizes and tracks speakers, making conversations feel more natural and ensuring participants no longer get “lost” in the background of a meeting room.

21:9 Front row meeting screens for an immersive experience

One development we already saw in 2024, and which is now gaining more traction, is 21:9 front row meeting screens. These ultra-wide screens provide an immersive meeting experience, where both participants and content are displayed more effectively. The wider screen format makes video calls feel more natural and enhances the connection between physical and virtual participants.

Management portals: Data as the key to success

Finally, there was a strong focus on management portals that help organizations analyze and optimize data from various systems. These platforms collect insights from meeting technology, room occupancy, and hardware usage. As a result, facility and IT teams can better respond to employee needs and improve the use of technology and office space within their organization.
